How did you get started/involved in weightlifting?: I was a CAHA Level 4 coach, coaching Juvenile Rep ( 16 to 18 ) hockey in the early 80's, some of my players hoped to progress to Junior A, they wanted to learn about strength training, i didn't know much (anything) about it, took several courses from the local rec centre, and in '85 wrote to the CWF for information.  they turned me on to Steve James, the Tech. Dir. of the BCWA.  with his help, i began coaching and competed at the BC Winter Games in '86.  we've been at Lake Trail Middle School since the fall of '91.
 
Years involved in weightlifting: 20
 
Athletic achievements: One of 2 BC coaches at 1995 Western Canada Summer Games.
Umpired at Baseball Canada National Championships--must be Level 4 umpire
 
Role in weightlifting: Coach, IWF 2 Referee
 
Coaching/educational credentials: Level 2 CWF coach
 
Favorite weightlifter: Maryse Turcotte
 
Interests other than weightlifting: cycling, cats--Clancy & Nefertiti
 
Other information you would like to share: i coach at a middle school, 3 lunch times a week, and 3 evenings a week.  we have Grade 7, 8 and 9, so kids sometimes have a short attention span--but it does wonders for some kids.

How did you get started/involved in weightlifting?: To improve performance in high school and college sports and currently to improve power for Highland Games and Rugby

How did you get started/involved in weightlifting?: My friend went to Athletic Development and said it really helps you in sports, so I decided to give it a try and I've been weightlifting since.
Years involved in weightlifting: With the H.S.-4 yrs......With Athletic Development-10 Months
Athletic achievements: Won 2nd in two state open wrestling tourneyments, won a state championship in soccer, and was a starter on our football team the last two years.
Role in weightlifting: A learner

Favorite weightlifter: Well I have just began looking into all the other weightlifter and record holders, but if I had to choose a favorite it would have to be Andy Tysz.  He no longer weightlifts competitivly, but he has a lot of knowledge in the sport and I've learned a lot from him.
Interests other than weightlifting: Football, Golf, Track, Swimming, Cooking, Hanging out with Friends, and Playing Poker.

How did you get started/involved in weightlifting?:
After school finished, went to Gym to gain flexibility and strength. Made good gains initially but progress stalled. Then heard from some guys of a nearby gym that had Olympic WtLifting. Went to try it out, liked it and stuck with it since then.
