How did you get started/involved in weightlifting?: Began in 1967 to 1968; Bob Bednarski was my hero.  Stopped lifting after 1968; just picked it up in the last month or so to stay fit.
Years involved in weightlifting: <1
Athletic achievements: Know how to fall - 30 year+ 16" softball player, volleyball, bicycling, ran 1983 Chicago Marathon, 1984 Triathlon, skydived, green belt in Judo, Archery instructor, took up fencing briefly last year after a 35-year hiatus, took up Aikido 2 years ago, but broke a rib.  What midlife crisis?
Role in weightlifting: Olympic lifting
Coaching/educational credentials: BS Acctg & Fina from NIU; MBA from DePaul; CMA
Favorite weightlifter: Bob Bednarski in my early days; pocket Hercules today
Interests other than weightlifting: 16" softball, parenting, husbanding, classical music, theatre, bicycling, archery
Other information you would like to share: Looking to compete in my first weightlifting meet on Nov. 7.  The interesting thing is that I've never been in a weightlifting meet, never even seen anyone do olympic lifting in person, and have had no coaching.  I do like a challenge.

I really need some help here, and i wonder if some of you guys can help me?! i have done sport all my life and am traditionally a very active guy, i have let myself slip a bit in the last couple of years though. I have been challenged by a few guys from my church, not only to get fit but to get fit enough to be able to get in to the british weightlifting team - in time for the olympics! so the big question is, theoretically, is it possible? i have about 2 and a half years, is this enough time to sort the technique and get the strength? i fully appreciate how dedicated i would have to be, i am guessing about 4 hours training a day, which i could do. so from a standing start to the olympics - can it be done? any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

thanks
