Hi! I'm Mike Cook. I'm 42 years old, and I started weightlifting in November 2008. I did gymnastics through high school and college. I live in Portland, Oregon. I'm really new at weightlifting, but I absolutely love it. One of my goals is to compete in Masters Nationals.

Mike, Welcome to this great sport and WE. Please be aware there is no qualifying total for the Masters National (or American). Just be a member of the USAW, get your entry form/fee sent in and show up. If you live on the east coast this is a good year. In November the Masters American is in York, PA (at York Barbell!) and in April (2010) the National will be at Lost Battalion Hall in NYC.

Thanks for the info. I will most likely go to 2010 Masters Nationals in New York. I weigh about 70kg, so I would like to get down to the 69kg weight class. My PR's right now are 67.5 in snatch and 85 CJ.
