How did you get started/involved in weightlifting?:  We visited a weight room once during a high school gym lesson and that was it. From that moment on I was hooked on weightlifting to the absolute exclusion of all other sports.
Years involved in weightlifting: 1979- 1987 as competitor. Have been a fan ever since.
Athletic achievements: One medal at national junior level.
Role in weightlifting: Bystander.
Favorite weightlifters: Blagoyev, Vardanian, Zakharevich, Suleymanoglu ... and many others.
Interests other than weightlifting: Huh? Other than weightlifting??? Travel ... to weightlifting comps.
Other information you would like to share:
I try and run the website www.Ripsteel.org.uk but have been a bit slack recently because I am stuck in the "white mans grave" or West Africa. I hope to make it to Thailand this year however, so there is a chance that the site can be revitalised.

How did you get started/involved in weightlifting?: Started doing a few lifts when I was training for rugby, stopped rugby, kept weightlifting.

How did you get started/involved in weightlifting?  I started lifting weights in 1981 and have lifted pretty much sense then for football through the 80s and for health through the 90s.  I began an interest in the sport of weightlifting during the 2004 Olympics, I haven't stopped weightlifting since.

Years involved in weightlifting: 4

Athletic achievements: I have lifted in 4 competitions winning 3 events.  In 2 of those competitions I had no one else in my weight class.  I bombed once (with no one else in the weight class...can you say bonehead :)banghead?)

Role in weightlifting: Athlete, coach

Coaching/educational credentials:  Master's in Sports Medicine, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Certified Athletic Trainer

Favorite weightlifter: Paul Anderson  (He did a show at my church when I was in grade school!)
