Still getting my stuff out of the gym and put where my platform is...

Just did squats at gym and then went to garage...

Back Squats (very high on neck and a bit narrower foot stance than last time, deep):
135x3
225x3
315x3
405x3
500x3
550x1 (Might have done a second rep but got the bar  way high and impinged a nerve, hands are still numb)

Garage...

OHS:
55x5x5 (getting a little better)

Front Squats:
125x multiple sets of 3-5 reps... on the firsts few I dumped the bar thinking I would fall but as I kept going I got a little better (believe me, I contemplated suicide) finally on the last two reps of my last set I was squatting down damn near 3/4 squat.

I know I was doing something close to correct because before my last two sets (attempts at sets) I walked into my grandmother's to grab a towel and as I walked back out I took one step and my leg BUCKLED. Bam! Knee to concrete porch. I took this as a signal to do another set  :)thumbsup

Jim:

I'll try and get up some video or email it you. I have a couple I'm trying to get posted. Here are my shoes  biggrin:)

Odd, they seem to have doubled... perhaps some magnanimous moderator might fix them for a poor computer illiterate guy, like moi.

What an adventure you have begun! In a way, I envy you the excitement of discovery and joy of improvement. I fixed your embeds. You only have to post the link to the video and it will auto-embed- no need to use the embed codes.

Stick with it and enjoy the process!

Well good goobly goop a blind hog does find an acorn upon occasion.

My Epiphany:

Power Snatch and a set of OHS:
45x5
45x5
45x5 (now here is where the saul/paul thing happened! I took my grip out to maximum stayed tigh and tried to pull bar apart, about the third rep I let bar drift way back and BAM! there it was, blinding light and all)
55x5 (so now I added a bit and as long as I held bar back, it was NOTHING)\
55X5
55X5
115X3 (Let bar crack me in the head a bit but I have this thing almost solved, easy if you ignore head cracks)
115x3
115x3
135x2 (happy as hell)

Power Clean and a set of FS:
135x5
135x5
145x5
145x5 (hurts wrists but went down deep, still not wracked proper but getting there)
215x no balance
215x wrist literally breaking

Power Pulls/Shrugs:
215x3
295x1
305x1 (needs work)
305x1 (needs works)

Gotta stretch those wrists... I wish I could get my elbows up, that would help a ton... very pleased, will do more tomorrow...

Yesterday I just did some Snatches trying to think myself under bar...

Today:

OHS:
45x5 ****ty)
45x5 (a little better)
45x5 (better)
45x5 (good)
55x5 (ok...)
55x5 (better)
55x5 (good)
55x5 (good)
115x5 (fair)
115x5 (good)
115x5 (good)
125x3 (fair)
125x3 (good)
145x2 ****ty)
145x2 (balance...)
145x2 (balance)
145x3 (good, third rep on head though, lol)

PC and FS:
145xX (wrists)
145xX (wrists)
145x2 (dumped...)
145x3 (good ones but lost balance on fourth, squats are easy but balance and wrists are ****)

Knee hurting, so I quit here... OHS are coming slowly, just got to keep arms back to balance me...

A question: Does a super wide grip cause you to a bit less effective at keeping arms locked tight?

Ok... maybe I have figured out something, but I need help/advice.

I think I have figured out something about racking the clean for the FS. I have to get the bar on my front delts! Yeah... ok... so it's not a revelation... but I have figured out a real problem. It is literally choking me! I was practicing with pvc in anticipation of tomorrow. I got into a doorway, braced the pvc and leaned into the doorway. This allowed me to get a realization of where it needs to actually rest. And I could definitely tell it was helping BUT it was crushing my 'adam's apple' before I ever got it fully onto my delts. I understand that the fact that the bar is sitting against the throat is one thing that makes the huge jerks so impressive but my issues involve actually crushing the 'adam's apple' inward.

WHAT DO I DO?

This is sorta like when I realized that getting that bar back and pulling it into is what makes OHS work. No one explained that to me...

My wrists are somewhat more flexible; I'm working on it.

Hmm... no answers.

Well, I just tried to learn today

I Cleaned these from floor to start the sets...

FS:
115x5 (pathetic)
115x5 (pathetic)
115x5 (little deeper)
115x5 (getting there)
115x5 (still basically holding bar in hands but good depth)
137x5 (not too bad but still not resting on shoulders)
137x5 (same)
137x5 (slightly better)
147x5 (fair)
158x5 (decent depth, getting a little closer to shoulders)
169x4 (good depth, pushing up with elbows is helping, better)
180x3 (not bad, but need to get it on delts)

Hey, I'm trying and showing slow improvement. I am getting down there on most reps of each set, the last ones. Pushing up with elbows is helping but I got a long way to go. I took a wider grip and taped my wrists, seemed to help a bit. Got to get that bar back into my larynx and off my wrists. Getting better, I think.
