Today I figured I should do some back squats. However I changed them from p'lifting style.

Back Squats (bar at base of neck, feet VERY NARROW!, and squatted DEEP... no belt, no wraps):
145x3
235x3
325x3
415x3
505x3

Power Cleans:
145x5
195x3
205x3
215x2
225x2 (finally got these wracked solidly! I'm FINALLY getting more flexible)

Behind the neck jerks with SN grip (just trying to learn these to loosen shoulders):
145x3
155x3
165x3 (tried to squat down on 3rd rep but didn't get too far, BUT I'm slowly finding balance!)

FS wrist stretches:
225x 5 sec hold
225x 5 sec hold + gently pulling up on elbows
225x 5 sec hold + gently pulling up on elbows

Went home and put my platform together. We got it all finished, I just need to glue the rubber down with contact cement. Looks cool!

Well... still training and TRYING to learn... as per advice here, I thought I'd begin with something to keep up my base strength...

Incline Press: 145x3
                   235x3
                   325x3
                   375x1
                   405x1 (easy)

Push Press: I have to say these are almost pure presses as I cannot bend my legs more than an inch or two because of the rack, actually it's an old school oly press):
                   145x3
                   235x1
                   255x1
265xX (I barely missed this, as I said it was virtually a 'press'... the inclines got to me)

Hang Power SN: 145x1
                      155x2
                      165x3

Squat SN (hey, I'm trying!): bar x 5
                                      55x5
60x4 (no balance but it's an improvement! First try at these, gotta get shoulders
                                              back... very humbling, indeed)

Went home and did a few cleans on my new platform, I dig it. I have downloaded several videos to watch. Perhaps they'll help. I still need flexibility and work on getting under the bar; work, work, work

I'll be damned...

Went to gym- and I use the term VERY loosely- today. I rolled up and noticed a few of the usual suspects. Got out, started in when I note that THERE ARE NO LIGHTS! There are three older guys in there training in the dark. I just laughed aloud... you see, a pretty rough windstorm came through Kentucky yesterday and much of he state is w/o power.

I felt stiff and crappy for some reason, so I left. (I wasn't going to lift in the dark, anyway.) So I went to my garage and practiced PC and jerk with 145 lbs. for 40 minutes. Felt stiff and weak... gonna stretch today, I guess.

If the remnants of Ike are like yesterday, I pity the folks in Galveston/Houston... well, some of them

Still no power at gym...

So it was 25  Power C&Js with 145. It took me 48 minutes but I tried to learn on each rep (all singles). It seems MAYBE I am learning to squat under it just a smidgen, barely noticeable BUT start. My wrists are now flexible enough that I let each rep sit across upper chest before "jerking" it.

God help me, I have miles to go...

Do you guys recommend that I keep working the technique for high singles to try and learn? Will I ever learn to drop into a full squat on the clean???? Jeez... I am impatient

I have got to get my shoulders MUCH more flexible to ever hope to SQ SN. The bar wants to, AND DOES, come forward as I lower myself...

Do you guys believe those 'Goblet Squats' espoused by Dan John could help me with the OHS?

Jesse,

Been reading about your progress.  Good stuff, be patient and keep working hard.  Is there any way you could get some video of yourself doing some cleans, overhead squats and snatches.  It may help give some folks on hear with the 'eyes' ,find other deficits to also help lead you into the right direction.

Stay with it
