Doesn't look like 500 lbs. to me, but what do I know (although I have done a 505 Incline).  He's gonna break ribs bouncing "500 lbs." like that, I actually saw a guy do that once... nevertheless, a cool video.

Read on Mike Burgener site where Klokov does strength lifts - pulls, squats, presses (bench included) in the AM and then competitve based lifts in the PM. Also, read where Klokov does strength based lifts during the week and only the competitive lifts one day per week. I read where Mike Wittmer said he was told this by Peter Stetsuik sp?. Presumably Klokov did not need so much technique work since he had been doing the lifts from youth only needed to get stronger. Apparently Chigshev trains with Klokov or used to but Klokov has changed coaches since 2004 or so he said in interviews so maybe they do or do not train together any onger but both have good snatches and both bench.

The chinese look to bench as well and they had no trouble dominating at the games.

Good god, how much do you weigh??

Anyway, the Chinese do bench and row quite a bit. Seen it myself...but they usually don't do too much weight. My coach regularly does about 120KG's for about 5-6 reps for maybe 5 sets? He coaches us, then goes to bench and coaches us for a bit more for like 10-15 minutes and benches again.

Impressive bench press.

Local coaches and lifters from around home and across the river have often told me that before I spend any time on an exercise like the bench press, I should consider whether I have put in enough quality work on the snatch and clean & jerk or variants. Anyone who trains 3x a week shouldn't spend significant time bench pressing especially if they haven't developed their technique in the jerk.

I do bench press but basically I can do at the moment is powerlifting, and even then I don't have time for that.

Kirksman should be good at snatching because I see him benching all the time. He's like "I want to build up a good pump!" :) Just kidding.

Well, certainly I would NEVER refer to that as a touch and go but I suppose definitions are arbitrary... However when I clearly see someone's feet move like his, I kind of think it's a rough bounce and it WAS...

As for my bw, weigh ~300 LBS.

I don't see much of a bounce, but his bone density is probably like twice "normal" or more. He takes huge impacts regularly in the snatch and CJ up to 250kgs-ish! No way he is getting hurt absorbing that minimal impact.  ):wlfter

Ever let 500 slam into your chest like that? I have and it's quite concussive... such things are easy to talk about if you haven't been under those weights.

I opened with 535 years ago completely gearless. I have done 580 in training but I never bang around weights like that... Tried 800 shirted once, lol...
