What happened?
« on: Aug 16, 2008, 11:14 AM »
So I am really behind watching the steams - it has been busy at work

My question is what was the deal with the Columbian that kept losing grip of the bar and not even getting it above his knees?

Was he indeed hurt or was his weight just to high for his opener?

One thing I do know after watching it again is that he should have considered throwing in the towel possibly after the first attempt because standing against the wall you could tell he was mentally beaten already.  He for sure should not have come out after the second attempt because after his 2nd or 3rd try on the second attempt you can tell his mentality was beaten.

I did not see it but was told about it.  He had a severely torn callus.

Wow. That is a little hard to believe given how exceptional the scene was. Never seen anything like that before and I have seen plenty of torn callouses of course, and had a few myself in the early days before I learned how to prevent them. I thought for sure he had a thumb injury and couldn't use the hook grip or something. I have to say I think he was a little bit ridiculous about it then and needs to toughen up a little (lot).
