What an 85 class!!
« on: Aug 15, 2008, 07:43 AM »
Two guys totaling 394!  Dimas' best total ever was 392.5, just to put those numbers in perspective.  I gotta admit, I was picking Rybakov all along.  I thought he would be one of the dominant performers at this Olympics.  And he did lift well, but the Chinese lifter hit a monster 214 to pull it out.

Also, a good moment for the US as Kendrick Farris places 8th with the performance of his life, 160/202.  That's an awesome display of competitive fire, nailing that American record C&J on his third attempt to win the B session and ultimately place 8th.  We're all very proud of this guy.

Now, I can't wait to watch the heavier weight classes so somebody other than China will start winning gold medals.  No offense to China, I just want to see somebody else win something.  I still haven't come to terms with the fact that the US won't have a SHW competing at this games, but oh well...

Also, did anybody notice on the NBC Olympics result page that several 85 kilo lifters have their bodyweights listed at 87, 89, 86, etc.?  I know it's just a typo, but I wonder what the real bodyweights were.

Matt,

Don't use the NBC results. They are unreliable. Use these:

Absolutely a fine division. And Kendrick Ferris had more in his body judging from the way his lifts moved. Sometimes it's not what is lifted only but also the way in which it is lifted.  Kendrick explodes!!

From what I see, which is what most others are seeing, Kendrick has World medal characteristics. You can see it in his skills, mental confidence, and quickness of movement. He will be having many more days of his life.

His improvement charts out progressively in shorter periods than once per year.  I would imagine that his assistance exercises PR in one or another regularly every 6 to 8 weeks.
