They can keep the knees warm, though they can also bunch up and cause problems with the knees. I would personally avoid them at all costs.

Chris, do you feel they would be fine just for squats?

Yes, they know. Those are Rehbands and keep your knees warm with some added support.
Nebyou, if you ever train more than 5-6x a week you will start to realize why the lifters do. Your knees start to get beat up over time and these help just enough in most cases.

I wear them when I train in shorts because I am so used to having something keeping my knees warm.

They attach your long lifting socks to your lifting tights  :)dance

Seriously, IMO they keep your knees warm more than anything.

Not for me. I was talked in to wearing them at some point for some reason and within a week I had a lot of knee issues. I stopped wearing them and my knees got better almost immediately. It may be that they just didn't make a good fit for me though. Also, aside from one fairly minor knee injury (slight meniscus and ACL tear), I have never had any knee trouble and I still don't.

Warmth is good and I have known a lot of weightlifters that haven't had a problem wearing them. Personally, I wish they would just extend the singlete all the way down the ankles. It would eliminate blood from the shins on the bar stoppages, increase warmth, and would look cooler- track suits basically.

I have the blue rehbands and like them, I've been wearing them every training session and my knees feel better when wearing them though they are hell to get on and off (probably should've gone with the gray 5mm ones), so far I've just been able to squat because of a wrist injury but I've been doing jumping without them on and I'm thinking of just wearing them for heavy clean&jerks and squats but still not sure, I started with a pair of valeos after a bit of knee tendonitis in my right knee, they're no miracle cure but good for warmth and support.
