I am not completely sure about this but I once heard that one (cant remember which, I think the push jerk, because the split jerk creates a wide base andmore base of support) allows more weight but is less stable. It also looks to me that push jerking seems like you have to move under the bar more push it up more than in the split jerk (ie it is easier to get lower and faster under the split jerk). As I said all of this I am not sure about so take it with a grain of salt.

I have always found the squat jerk to be a bad direction, too easy for a minute mistake to ruin a massive expenditure of labor. I find Kendrick Farris' technique to be quite promising. Not only does he have the capability of riding the weight down to a deeper than traditional split, but he has far more ability to adjust the hips in relation to the bar after the catch than does a true squat jerker. It sure looks scary sometimes, but I think he is developing a very adaptive and powerful new jerk technique.
