Congratulations to WLE's own Sarah Robles!

IWF results are posted and Sarah placed second in the 75+ class at JWC with 84/117/201.  Great job Sarah!!

thanks. it was definately the best performance in my career so far. i had a huge pr in my total.

Weightlifter places 2nd at worlds

Sarah Robles, 20, finished second at the Junior World Championships in Cali, Colombia, on Saturday.

The Gilbert resident, competing in the over-75 kilogram weight class, had a snatch of 84 kilograms and a clean and jerk of 117 for a total for 201. Only Russian Yulia Kachaeva was better at 223 kilograms with a 98 snatch and a 125 clean and jerk.

Robles transferred to Arizona State from Alabama as a thrower but is off to Northern Michigan on a weightlifting scholarship.

Gilbert High graduate Alex Lee, an ASU student, competed in the 62 kilogram male weight class and finished 12th in the world with a total of 245 after snatching 110 and clean and jerking 135.

thanks everybody. i appreciate the support. it really is a miracle i was even able to go. and to get second place? i have to say, having the opportunity to be able to represent my awesome country and to be able bring us home some hardware was the coolest and greatest accomplisment I could have asked for. the womens team got fourth place overall. go usa!
