Topic: Greece Going To Olympic Games!!!

The individual lifters that were busted can not lift, but all the points toward Olympic qualification that they earned before they were busted are kept by Greece and therefore Greece keeps the slots. As I have been saying for several years, we have an Olympic qualification system that rewards cheating and punishes those that are drug free and its made a mockery of our sport.

I know the new doping rules came into effect AFTER the Greeks got caught, so this case is governed by the old rules.  Now with the new rules there is a possibilities that things will change.  I'm not holding my breath, but I really hope that the new rules will be strictly enforced

Wtv...im greek, and im happy...as long as the represent the sport in the olympic games im fine...thats all they want to do now...its a relife because from what i was hearing from soem atheletes in greece...everythging has changed and is alot more strict... i was scared that greece will take a heavy beating in weightlifting...now i think they can redem themselves in 2012...where hopefully everything will be alot stricter in every country...its nice when ur country suports a sport u love...yeah wtv im canadian but im a greek patriot like all greeks...obviously im not happy with the whole doping scandal and i do not support it but at least there will be a new greek federation led by dimas..the rest of the positions will be elected on the 28th...new coaches...some new athletsd will be brought up...its a good new begining.

So what would your qualification system be? There are 170 men's slots available this year - how would you have those slots distributed.

I dont see how that has anything to do with what i said...id keep things the way they are now...you can not go changing anything right now...

All qualification points/slots earned by busted athletes should be forfeited, in any system. If any preference is going to be given for anything, it should be tied to the strength and transparency of the nation's OOC program. But, really the slots should be equally divided among nations with remainders divided with a lottery or something.

Yeah it could be done that way but why should slots be given to countries that do not earn them...in this case greece has athletes who did not get tested who have qualified for the olympics that can go...is there a rule or something that when u get tested its entirely your fault...u can say he made me or i didnt kno what whas in this protien supplement wtv...greece is a strong weightlifting country...maybe slots should be reduced but not stripped away... theres no proof that the team used perfromance drugs to win those slots.

Exactly my point. If the points/slots were obtained through cheating, then they were not earned but rather stolen.
