Personally, I wouldn't trust any supplements, don't think there worth the money anyway, and think the money would be better spent on excellent nutrition, massage, and traveling to different training centers/clubs.
Also, I would remind the members that no advertisements of any kind for supplements are allowed on this website, not even just a link in a thread. So, this may not be the best place to discuss this particular topic.

Chris,
I agree on the above mentioned items that you listed. At the end of the day, smart food choices and smart planning turn out a better product then worrying about whether deer balls and antler will give you a bigger snatch. (maybe they do, that might be the reason why Tusic squats so much at 50 + naked.)

If somebody has the cash, may as well go for every nutritional advantage available including BCAA's
Discussion of specific brands is out of order, but I don't see the harm in debating the use of BCAA's in general. Besides I think Alex was questioning the possibility of a supplement being contaminated by trace amounts of banned substances.

Yes, general discussion is fine. I just didn't want to have to edit posts to remove links/ads.
Cheers

In the December 2007 issue of the NSCA's Strength and Conditioning Journal there is a good article on protein supplementation. In it they discuss the effect of taking amino acids and its effect on enhancing protein uptake. I also looked at some of the research the authors of the article used and there is some good stuff on the topic. Many of which I was able to find on google scholar.

A large study completed late last year -- replicating earlier studies with similar findings -- found that about ONE IN FOUR supplements were contaminated with a banned PES.

The athlete bears the risk -- your intent, or lack of knowledge, would be no defense to a doping charge in many federations (certainly not in the U.S., and I'm guessing Canada has a similar rule).
