I have a very noticable lateral jump to the right when I snatch, about 4". I mean my entire body moves not just my right foot, and I have no clue as to why? What would cause this? I'm making most of my weights but it is a little irritating now that I know this. Today for example I did
3-50
3-70
3-80
1-90 x 3
1-95 x 6
1-100
1-100
2-95
all sets even my 50/70/80 had the lateral jump top the right :(
thankyou,

I saw from youtube that this problem has persisted for a long time. Can you jump straight up, without weights? Yes? Then start with the bar, use a mirror in front of you if you have to and do snatches with the bar. Focus only on driving up. Lifting in front of mirror sounds like bodybuilding but I have seen a world medallist do it
This approach doesn't try to investigate why you jump sideways but it might help eliminate it. I notice that you jump further to the right the heavier the weight gets.
Anyway I am just trying to offer input since you haven't yet received any.

Hey Bob,
I saw your video and these are my impressions....
If you pause the tape at just after the first pull, it appears that you immediately lean to your right. You then pull the weight up and to the right and the weight forces your body to shift accordingly. Either you have a muscle imbalance which gets you leaning to the right from the start or you have an anatomical anomaly which contributes to your problem. Or possibly both at this point. Is it possible that you have one limb shorter than the other (arm or leg)? Maybe you need an insert or higher heel in your right shoe. I like your starting position before you start the first pull though!

thankyou fellas. Those are older vids and since then it has gotten worse, more pronounced. I don't know if it has anything to do with it. I think it wouldn't bc if it did I figured I would be jumping to the left, but my right should is separated. Has been for a year. I chose not to get the operation to have it fixed b/c it doesn't hurt, I can do anything in the gym except bench press, and doesn't hinder my job.
I will definetely do bar drills. thanks again
