So, I am informed our elections for the new quad were delayed and will take place via email with the entire USAW membership as I said before. I consider this all good news. Here are the highlights from the meeting:

* Elections for Board of Directors and committee positions were postponed, pending adoption of new by-laws as recommended by USOC;

* Current board vacancies were filled to serve until the end of the quad:  1st VP-Brian Derwin, at large-Denis Reno;

* Two members were elected to new Governance Reform Committee:  Jim Schmitz and Bob Giordano;

* 2009 Event awards:  Nationals - Chicago; National Juniors - Foster City, CA; American Open - Mobile, AL; Collegiates - Marquette, MI;

* Bids for 2009 School Age Nationals will be entertained at the 2008 School Age Nationals in Orlando;

* Athlete Rep reported on results of Athlete Congress:  elections for new Athlete Reps to the Board of Directors and committees were postponed, pending adoption of new by-laws.

I need to increase my knowledge base. I think I'll hang here for awhile. Walter did I see you were coaching? Who, and why? Is this something you do regularly?

No, I am not a coach, other than a few swimmers that I coach to improve their performance. One day in the future though, I hope to either start a club or coach at one.

I like that next year's JR Nationals is in California.  It'll be nice for all us western lifters to not have to cross the continent to go to a national meet, for a change.

Next year's Canadian Nationals are in British Columbia so you and Al Reed can come up and lift with us :)

Damn!  That picture is a blast from the past.  Montreal was a great city.  I'd like to go back there for a vacation some day.

Chris,

There is a slight mistake in the results of the 105kg class.  Norm Fulk and Cody Gibbs had the same total with Norm winning the bronze on bodyweight.  The USAW originally had the results as you have them posted but have since corrected them to reflect Fulk as the bronze medalist.

The 105kg class was a great battle with 4 lifters all vieing for the gold.  The difference between 1st and 4th place was a mere 6kgs!  Contrast that with the other men's weight classes and you will see that this is the most competitive weight class by far.  Great lifting guys!
