James Moser Claims Gold at 2008 USA Senior Nationals

COLUMBUS, Ohio —James Moser of Kihei won the gold medal in the snatch lift at the 2008 Senior Nationals on Sunday.

Moser lifted 160 kilograms, (353 pounds) in the snatch portion of the competition to win the event.

The 18-year-old also finished second in the clean and jerk with a lift of 185 kilograms (407 pounds). He had the weight of 418 pounds over head which would have given him the gold medal, but he was unable to hold it steady.

Moser’s personal best total of 760 pounds was good enough to earn him a silver medal for his combined scores.

Moser also qualified for the Olympic trials for the upcoming Beijing Olympics. The trials are set for May 16-17 at Atlanta.
