New web site for the upcoming Pan Am Championships and Olympic Qualifier in Peru:

http://www.perulevpesas.com/

They have done a good job so far. I was able to view some of the live video coverage (yes, using Internet Explorer).

I haven't seen any comprehensive results but the USAW web site states that Derrick Johnson lifted 107+133 in the 62 kg class. No mention of his overall placing except that he earned 18 points which would equal 8th place in his category.

Canada's Jasvir Singh competed today in 62 kg but I don't know his results.

Looks like if Chris was in good shape as a 56 he would've easily placed top 3.

Thanks for locating the results, Walter!

The 62 kg was a great class. The winner Oscar Figeuroa is one of my favourites. Also it's good of Colombia, Venezuela, Cuba to show up with top lifters and put on a show even though the competition is not a necessary one for them to qualify for the OG. Especially considering some of these same guys competed in the Manuel Suarez in Cuba just a week ago.

Hmm, yes, I could have gotten silver on a bad day. Still, once I won the second round of dispute over the American Records, I had no interest whatsoever in the Pan Ams. They would have had to pay me serious cash to go and I am sure they wouldn't, even if it helped secure an extra Olympic spot. I simply have no interest in international competitions, no interest in competing in tainted competitions (drugs) and I hate to travel. Add in cutting weight to the travel and the extremely high likelihood of competing against cheaters and it would have taken $10,000 to get me to go.

I hope the USA earns two men's Olympic spots regardless.

Francis Luna Grenier had an excellent performance in 69 kg (132+166) putting him back into 1st place in national rankings. Nice lifting by Dominic Lussier as well.

Canada is doing really good so far. I talked with someone on the team and he told me that they have chance for 2 places !

Strong lifting in the 77 for the American
