The chess mod just got an update. It now displays the pieces captured for each player, has some new pieces and boards to choose from, and some other features and bug corrections. It also now has some variations on normal chess that are kind of interesting I guess. It seemed to work quite well already but as always please let me know if you run in to problems and enjoy.

I see that I've started to get move updates from chess even though I deactivated the PMs through SMF prior to the patch. To me the messages are a little annoying and I check the forums often enough that they aren't necessary for me. I will turn them on, save settings, and turn them off again and save settings to see if that is a solution.

Shaun, thats a good idea for a potential solution. Those messages would annoy me as well...I turned them off also. Let me know if it doesn't resolve the issue (I'm not playing a game right now), and I will report the bug. The mod author is doing fantastic work supporting the mod and is going to move the release from beta to an official release soon. So I am sure he/she will correct it quickly.

An upgrade to our main site, not the forum, has been released. It includes some security, speed, and stability improvements to the main site as well as some improvements to the wysiwyg editor. This is the editor used for members to submit content such as results, articles, programs, journals and can be accessed via the tools drop-down menu. I am putting the site in maintenance mode and beginning the upgrades in a few minutes. Hopefully everything will go smoothly and we will be back up very soon.

Thanks

Another chess upgrade, lots of little improvements and bug fixes I guess. Most notably it will now PM you if your opponent requests a move undo, draw, or to resign even if you have the option to receive PMs when your opponent moves turned off per Shaun LeConte's bug notification. Please let me know of any problems and I hope you will play a game of chess with your fellow weightlifters once and a while.

cheers:)

I've made several modifications:

* There is now a font face and size dropdown menu when you are posting.[/li][/list]

* There is now a referral link in every member's profile. If you give this link to someone or post it somewhere and new members register from clicking your link, then it will credit you with a referral. Hits to WE coming from that link will show in your profile as well as any members who joined from your link. There are potentially some rewards WE can offer for referrals down the road.

* Finally, there is a new donations center available from the forum menu. This system tracks any donations made to the site as well as displaying the total amount of donations in the month, and the name of any contributors, if they did not request to be anonymous when they made their donation. The site costs roughly $20 a month to run and anything above and beyond that will be used to improve the site in terms of content and services. I don't mind paying it, administrating it, and developing and publishing content, but contributions will of course take pressure off of me and allow me to do more for the site/sport. This donation center also could be used to do fund raising for other goals the forum might set. Just let me know.

A minor official upgrade to the forum was released and installed. Let me know if you have any problems.

The ability to donate to the site on a recurring, automatic basis has been added to the donation center. After remodeling the Hall of Fame, I am pretty beat on development for this website, so if you are at all interested in seeing this site continue to grow in capabilities and content at a rapid rate, I would encourage you to donate. It will serve to motivate me. When and if I become motivated again, I plan to create Hall of Fame tributes for every Sr National American champion. If you are happy with the forum as is and the mere addition of new meet results and news articles along with all the necessary maintenance, I am willing to continue these duties (and paying for the site's hosting) at this point without any donations.

Thanks for your support.
