New features, updates and bugs
« on: Nov 12, 2007, 10:06 PM »
I spent the $50 to upgrade WE from Gallery Lite to Gallery Pro, offering the members much greater ability to create their own really cool weightlifting picture galleries and interact with each other's images. And, Rob has posted some really fantastic pictures so go take a look at his collection. I accidentally deleted Adrian Cadmus-Dixon and Pete Church's collection in the process of performing the upgrade. Doh! What can I say but the line wrap change dictated by the CSS override by the bridge between Mambo and SMF tricked me- I'm just an amateur (was that even English?). Sorry Pete and Adrian, but I think the new Gallery is a lot cooler and if you start a new collection perhaps you will agree. I hope everyone likes it.

Cheers

Rob,

My pleasure. I have enabled the auto-approve feature for pictures and comments so they don't have to be approved by me before being viewable now, and members can create their own personal galleries without me. I still have to resolve one small issue with one of your pics thumbnail being too small. This was the result of my mistake on install. It shouldn't be too hard to fix. Since I had an issue with that pic, I went ahead and edited out the white dots/blot that were covering up some of the image for you.

Thanks for posting the awesome pics.

New video embed feature makes it much easier
« Reply #3 on: Nov 29, 2007, 06:16 PM »
A new, very cool mod came out and installed beautifully. If you post an ordinary link from a video site, just about any video site (Youtube, Revver, Brightcove, etc, etc) in your post, it should automatically embed.

There should no longer be any need to mess around with the BBC code buttons above the post message window or anything so it now requires no computer knowledge whatsoever really to embed video in your posts. This is also much more secure and therefore the ability to embed videos is no longer limited to members with a certain number of posts, which helped reduce the security risks before.

Please let me know if you have any problems, and enjoy.  :)peaceout

Anyone interested in a chat feature here?

Would any of our members like to be able to have live chats with other members here? There is a pretty nice mod for this if there is interest.

It's an interesting idea. Addressing Jack's comment about it being kept on topic I don't think people are available to monitor the chat so people will have to be trusted to moderate their own discussion for the most part. Sounds fun.

Correct. I would NOT be willing to moderate it. Unless there were volunteers, it would be unmoderated. The mod includes private and group chat options, among other features. However, all chats are logged and members could be banned from the chat or even the site for violations, if legitimate complaints were lodged. ...However...I never thought insisting chats stay on topic was necessary or even desirable. The idea, from my perspective, was to allow our members to chat about whatever they want, as long as its legal, decent, and polite- to help build community.
