Any body here going to the American Master's meet in NYC's Lost Battalion Hall on November 10-11? This will be my 1st time in a national level competition.
I can't wait.
Let us know if you are going. Should be a great event.
Any inside information on the venue? (i.e. - parking, places to eat, quality of warm up area, locker rooms, showers, traffic hints, places to avoid, places to see, etc)

My claim to fame is that I was the Fl. Olympic Weightlifting Champ in the 148's from 73-75 as a 17, 18, and 19 year old. Then I went to college, got married and that was that!

I'll be there but as a loader. I'm an LBH lifter who's only a couple years away from qualifying for the Masters.
I think the 6 warm up platforms are being expanded to 8 for this meet.
There's some street parking nearby on the weekends. There's chain store food around - Applebees, etc - but there's an excellent, huge skirt steak to be had nearby at Mi Tio's.

That's my best tip for that area.

One thing I have noticed about big masters meets is that it requires the host to be an excellent planner. Don't these meets sometimes have up to several hundred competitors? I remember years back that the Collingwood, Ontario World Masters had 500-600 lifters
Good luck to the organizers, wishing everything runs smoothly

I got an email from the organizer Len Bacino. He says that they have received 130+ applications for the meet. There are 70 lifters scheduled to lift on Saturday and over 60 on Sunday. Should be a huge event and by far the biggest event I have ever lifted in.

The start list is up for this event now. Looks like there will be some particularly stiff competition for me, but I feel ready. I also see a lot of regular forum members will be competing. Should be fun

To all of you going - Good luck and good lifting
I can't wait to meet some of you for the first time or to see some of you again! I will be getting there on Sunday as I have to work all day on Saturday. I will pray for safe travels and safe lifting.
