Gyms in Michigan
« on: Feb 07, 2007, 02:58 PM »
I need some help and I'm hoping this is the place to get it.

I just got into Olympic lifting a few months ago, I was doing a lot of powerlifting, but my shoulders and knees where taking a beating.

On to my actual question.  Do you guys have your own gyms or do you workout at regular gyms?  Secondly, I need to find a place with bumper plates in the Detroit area because I have progressed to high enough weight that it isn't easy to lower it down under control.  The gym I workout at now, doesn't have them and even if they did it wouldn't matter because they wouldn't allow me to just drop the weight from over head.  Currently I C&J 295 lbs, and I can't progress any further because of the bumper plate issue...please help.  If nobody on this site is in Michigan, does anyone know of a website that might list the info?

Thanks a ton

Aaron

You can give this guy a call. He's the weightlifting president for the state. I know there are lifters training in Livonia and elsewhere but I don't have direct contact info.
