Jim Conroy Memorial & Open

This will be the 8th year that we've had this meet on behalf of a guy who never was very accomplished as a lifter, but dedicated himself to holding meets at the local "Y" for close to 35 years! Of course,he always had to wrangle or argue with the ymca's director just to get a date. We always put on a very efficently run meet with Bud Charniga coming with extra equipment just in case. It helps immensely also to have great announcer in the person of the one and only Fred Lowe, too.

                                    Best Regards,
                                             Dave Peterson

I just got back from this meet a couple of hours ago. It was short but sweet. I had a chance to meet some new people from Michigan, such as Dave Peterson and Ergodan Gulari, and spend time with existing friends from the Livonia area. I should have lifted myself but there's always next year.

In the photo is Hoan Nguyen and myself. I am wearing my new Tommy Kono t-shirt though it's hard to see it under my jacket.

Hoan is lifting in the video. The video is a little glitchy. I think it's because he's too fast for youtube.

Thanks Shaun for coming to our "short, but sweet" meet. We probably could've had a few more people at our little gathering after the meet, but quite few of them had other plans right after the meet was over. Fred Lowe for one had to rush away to attend a wedding and I'm sure he would've liked to have been at our post meet gathering and exchange his lifting stories, too. I'm sorry about our power outage,as temporary as it was, and as you know we never did get the power back for announcing. We probably won't have another meet in Michigan until next March, but I will let you know.
                                           Best Regards,
                                                   Dave Peterson
P.S. I for one thought your video was very good compared with a lot of the crappy ones on  Youtube.
