Coastal Empire competes at Joe Dube Classic and piles up top-10 finishes

The Coastal Empire Weightlifting Team participated in the Joe Dube Olympic Weightlifting competition in Jacksonville, Fla., on Oct. 20-21. The mother and daughter duo, Shannon and Erica Hall, both took fourth place in their respective divisions. In the 69-kilogram Open division, Chandler Harper, made his debut by finishing fourth. Harper, 11, is the cousin of two-time Olympian Cheryl Haworth.

On the second day of the competition, Patrick Cassiday finished fourth in the 77-kilo division. His brother, Robert, returning from an elbow injury, finished seventh and teammate Jarred Sabia finished eighth.

Alice Kohler, 17, returning after being sidelined with a broken foot, made five out of six lifts, capturing the gold medal in the women's 69-kilo division division. Joanne Vinall won the silver medal in the women's 75-kilo division.
