I'm sure everybody already knows that Andrei Rybakov won the 85kg class with a world record snatch of 187kg.  Not only did he dominate his weight class, but he dominated everybody in the weight class above him (the winner of the 94kg class did 177!) 
Rybakov is only two kilos away from breaking the world record in the 94kg class, a feat that I am sure he is more than capable of doing.  That got me wondering, has there ever been a world record in one weight class, that was higher than that of the weight class above?  I don't think I've heard of that before, although if it has been done, I imagine it was Naim?  Either way, I really hope he does, that would be awesome!
He must be one of the best (if not THE best) snatcher in history.

I've had a brief look through the progress of the world records as recorded by Gotfried Schodl in his book, "The Lost Past", and I didn't see any instances of a world records being higher in a lighter weight class. Though I saw some instances when a record in a lighter weight class was within 0.5 kg of the heavier one. For example when Blagoev was snatching 193-195.5@90 in 1982/83, the 100 kg approximately the same until Zacherevich snatched 200

Now, with the women those instances are easier to find. For example, in the first couple years of women's weightlifting at the world level, the 48 kg c&j record was higher than both the 52 and 56 kg records.

He snatched 189 at the Belarus championships this year weighing in at 89kg or so. He is certainly good for more, I just have a feeling he is going to take it one kilo at a time, hopefully to at least 190.

Yuri Zacharevich put the pressure on the world record snatches in higher weight classes a few times.  When he snatched 200 as a 100 kilo junior in Odessa in 1983, the SHW senior record was only around 201.  Pisareko had to fight his ass off to snatch 202.5 at SHW in the same meet, just so he could snatch more than a 100 kilo junior.  Zacharevich also did the same thing to Kurlovich at the 1988 Olympics.  After Yuri snatched 210 in the 110 class, Kurlovich had to pull out a gutbusting 212.5 at SHW just to avoid being out-lifted by a lighter man.  Zacharevich is the most amazing lifter I've ever seen, in terms of the way he smashed records by huge amounts.
