OK I emptied the Safari cache, repaired permissions, and restarted. Seems OK now

The special character issue has now been resolved in our features section, in our reference list, and in member names. Special characters in posts that got screwed up in the site conversion are going to remain screwed up as I don't think its a big deal and it would take massive time to correct.

I have done some looking and it seems that we are not missing any attachments in posts, or at least if we are it must be very few. It appears that the 50 or so attachments that didn't make it to our new software (Simple Machines) were in private messages. Simple Machines does not support attachments in private messages and this is a good thing since the owners of the website are legally responsible for anything on our server. In other words, if members were using our private message system to distribute illegal material like copyrighted works, child porn, etc, I could go to jail for it. No thanks. 

In any case, I have all the attachments from the old site (phpbb) backed up. If and when anyone comes across any missing attachments and lets me know about them, it is easily fixed.

I am removing this thread's sticky status now, since it appears WE are stable with our new software, at our new location, with our new bridged status with the main site for static content. Thanks for your support since this transformation.
