Cara Heads Making Comeback, Good Lifting at '07 Colorado State Games
COLORADO SPRINGS, August 5--The 2007 State Games of America ended a record-breaking four-day stint on Sunday in Colorado Springs, with almost 11,000 athletes from 47 states on hand. That obliterated the old Games’ record of 9,462 athletes who came to the city for the 2005 national sports festival for amateur athletes of all ages and skill levels. A Colorado Springs World Arena record crowd of 10,007 saw five-time World Champion and two-time Olympic figure skating medalist Michelle Kwan light the Games’ flame and get the event off to an emotional start on Thursday night. Over 7,000 medals were awarded in 29 sports over the long weekend.
