I have designed a new front end website for the Weightlifting Exchange. This new site is a content management system which will display and organize our featured content in a more attractive and efficient manner (props to Joe Prusacki for prodding me in this direction). The content boards/sections of the forum- articles, interviews, projects, records and perhaps more (results, videos) will be gradually moved to this new site. When it is first installed, it will have no content and will basically just be a blank website. You will be able to get to the forum by pressing the "Forum" button on left side of screen, in the "Main Menu".

The new site also offers what I hope will be a significant new capability for the members. Members will be able to submit articles with a wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) editor, like a light version of Microsoft Word. Thus, an article can be designed with images, excellent control of formatting, embedded tables easily set up right in the post article window (for results!), be able to paste directly from Microsoft Word preserving formatting, embed html (embed videos from youtube, revver, brightcove, etc, results, etc), and much more. Basically,

The site will be integrated with the forum so you will only have to log in once for both sites. You will not need to re-register. This is a very tricky install to get right so the site could be down for quite a while as I wade through it carefully. At some point I will close down the forum for new posts since no new posts would be transferred to the new address. Then, at some point, the site will come down completely as I begin moving the forum, installing the new site, and bridging the two sites. It is not impossible and even likely that I may have problems that will have to be resolved along the way. Please bear with me and wish me luck as it is very complex and exacting and could take anywhere from 3 hours to who knows how long. I will inform the forum when its time.

Thanks very much

It looks like things worked out pretty well. I am sure there is a little settling in to do and some adjustments to make. Hopefully I can solve any such issues quickly and start moving some content over to the new site soon. Please let me know if you run in to any problems and tell me all the detail you can. Thanks very much and welcome back!  welcomehere:)
