Hi Dane,

How is the physical therapy going?  What do they have you doing?

Dane, good luck with the rehab.

Janet, Mike;

Here are a couple of sites that show the type of exercises that I am currently doing.

http://www.nismat.org/ptcor/shoulder

http://www.shoulderphysician.net/shoulder_physical_therapy/index.htm   Full Shoulder Protocol exercises 1-4

Also doing shoulder shrugs both up and back.

Just started last Friday with the "real deal" after an evaluation last Wednesday.

The exercises using a broomstick are the hardest. I will have 3 PT sessions a week for 4 weeks. I also am doing the current exercises 3 times a day followed by 20 minutes of ice.

Can't drive (at least not safely), can't turn the steering wheel fast enough. I need one of them big knobs attached to the steering wheel that we all had back in the 60s.

I've got a manual transmission, and can make it from 1st through 4th. But 4th to 5th (and reverse) is a good stretch.
Good thing I was trying this in the driveway with the engine off.   :)rotf

Mike,

When you going to enter a Masters meet? You shouldn't let Jeff have all the fun!!!

Mike,

A person's limitations are in their mind. I guess that's why I'm mindless.   Finished my sixth PT session today. My ROM is improving, but still not there. Have added additional exercises. You work your range till the point of pain. I'm in no hurry to start lifting again. I'm walking 5 miles a day. I really thought that I would gain weight due to not lifting, but I've lost some. I go back to the orthopedic doctor on Friday for her evaluation. It has been an interesting "ride".  :)ugh

Dane,

How's the rehab coming along? Can you drive and function normally yet?

Chris,

I can drive OK. I could put on a heck of a show in a NASCAR race at Daytona. As far as functioning normally, I don't know if that has ever happened.    I have witnesses to prove it.

Rehab is going well. I'm ahead of schedule according to both the doctor and physical therapist. More exercises are being added to get the full range of motion back. The next obstacles to overcome are to be able to raise my arm straight above my head, touching my thumb to the middle of my back moving up from my waist, and reaching over to the back of  the opposite shoulder.

I do think I could snatch and C&J a broomstick, but they would be way out in front.  :)rotf

Hopefully by about the beginning of December, I'll be able to get back into it real slow.

Dane,

It sounds like you are coming along well. Maybe when you get fully recovered I could meet you at a local meet someday.  :)peaceout
