I can't really translate, my language skills are weak. Something about being a student, girlfriends and strict weight management.

Alex, yeah I think cameramen who aren't familiar with weightlifting tend to focus on the emotions of lifting heavy weight and not on the details of lifting technique, which I prefer to see :)

I find it interesting that the 56 kg guy does his lifts with a mirror right in front of his platform. Does that have something to do with self coaching, or just plain vanity?

Soon I will be writing about weightlifting in a completely different country but I will not abandon my favourite Korean lifter, Yoon Jin Hee :P   Or in English, Jenny Yoon

http://spn.chosun.com/site/data/html_dir/2008/04/11/2008041100679.html

In the article, it says she's also a ballerina, 53 kg, 158 cm (about 5'2), lifts 20,000 kg-30,000 per day (eg 200-300 reps avg weight 100 kg in soviet style math) and 10 million kg per year. She likes painting and pirates.  According to the article she has snatched 100 kg and clean & jerked 126 kg so far this year in training and they predict an excellent chance at Olympic gold.

According to Yonhap News Service, Jang Mi-Ran and most of the Korean national team will be skipping the Asian Championships in Japan to focus on their own National Championships and Olympic Qualifying tournaments. Mu Shuangshuang, the Chinese +75 kg rival is listed as competing in the event.

Jang to miss regional weightlifting championships

혻혻 SEOUL, April 10 (Yonhap) — South Korean weightlifter Jang Mi-ran will miss this year’s regional championships in Japan as she seeks to use the time to improve her form ahead of the Beijing Olympics, officials said Thursday.

혻 혻 The 25-year-old world record holder in the women’s 75-kilogram category also needs to take part in her country’s Olympic qualifying round for a two-day run just before the Asian championships begin in Kanazawa, Japan on April 25.

혻혻 “National-level players, including Jang, will miss the regional competition as they will be occupied with the national qualifiers,” Oh Seung-woo, Jang’s coach, said.

혻혻 Oh added that Jang — who won her third straight world championship title last year and is one of her country’s top favorites to win a gold medal in the Olympics in August — also needs to reduce the risk of exposing her form.

혻혻 “If Jang competes in an international competition, information about her may be leaked,” Oh said, adding Jang’s closest Olympic rival, Mu Shuangshuang of China, is expected to join the regional competition in Japan.

혻혻 Jang beat Mu during the world championships in September last year in Thailand when she lifted a total of 319 kilograms by combining 138kg in the snatch and 181kg in the clean and jerk. Mu lifted the same weight but was edged out because her body was 20kg heavier than that of Jang.

혻 혻 Officials of the Korea Weightlifting Federation said they still plan to fly to Japan later this month to watch Mu perform in the competition for analytical purposes.
