Michelle Glasgow Best Lifter at USA Schoolage Championships
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Mother Nature only threatened, but it was Provo's Michelle Glasgow who really brought down the house at last weekend's National SchoolAge Weightlifting Championships.
Tornado warning horns had sounded earlier in the afternoon, and the competition site hotel guests had been evacuated to safe areas away from windows, but the delay was brief, as the worst of the weather happened elsewhere.
Glasgow, also a champion ballroom dancer with the Provo High School team, finished with a personal best Clean and Jerk of over 200 pounds (91 kg), setting new records and earning the Best Lifter award to go with her third consecutive weightclass/age group victory. Her 2005 win was in the 48 kg class, last year was in the 53 kg class, and this year she won the 58kg class after a decision to avoid drastic weight cutting.
Her lifts were better than most of the boys (many outweighing her by more than 50 pounds in the session following the girls from all over the country with whom she competed.
Michelle is coached by her father, BYU math professor Scott Glasgow, and his fellow champion lifter Dave Chiu.

It seems she was on the Early Show at some point and I know you've got a fascination with video so...
