Thanks very much to everyone for the comments. I am still pretty torn about it. I see everyone that voted is pretty even as well with a slight advantage to 62kg at this point. Eric, making weight at 56 is hard as hell for me, excruciatingly painful. But, then setting an American Record is not supposed to be easy I guess which is what makes it ultimately rewarding. I will be weaker at 56 then 62 but then isn't everyone? I felt really great competing at 56kgs last time I did it, once I ate after weigh-ins that is. I still don't know what I will do or when I will compete again (Americans or next Sr Nationals), but I guess I can't go too wrong either way.

Thanks again for all the comments and suggestions so far. It is helpful.

PS

I will begin posting video from my training very soon as I would like to get the feedback and hopefully the encouragement of the forum, if thats not presumptuous. Right now, I am training alone which I am sure everyone knows is not ideal or as much fun as training in a group.

Gary,

Unfortunately its not really an option. I do have a membership at a Gold's where I do some supplemental work and some squats to get a little different atmosphere. I spent every cent I have to get in to this house but when I have some more money, I will register my club and hopefully recruit some lifters from people looking at the club list as well as through the recruiting I have begun. I have room for 4 platforms in my garage so I can get a decent group going eventually. Right now, I have bars and racks for two platforms, but only one platform and not quite enough bumpers for two (plenty of steel for four). So, it will take time to build. Until I recruit some lifters, I'm on my own.

Thanks

for yourself it would be better to compete at 62 to have some competition, thats wut sports is all about.

but weightlifting is an odd sport and people remember records.

so do it for urself and compete in the 62 or do it for the record.

i would do a coinflip.

Nick,

That will be cool. Hopefully by then we will have a good group going. Congratulations on winning state, by the way.
