Choosing a Club
« on: May 19, 2007, 04:18 PM »
I have been looking at clubs to join and was wondering.  Should a club be chosen off of the location or the coach.  The closest clubs to me are 45 minutes away and an 1.5 hours away.  I have heard good things about the coach from the club 1.5 hours from me and have heard nothing about the coach 45 minutes.  The club that is 45 minutes has an advantage because I could meet with the coach there on occasion.  Probably very minimally with the coach at the club that is further away.  Let me know your thoughts, right now I just write my own programs and have been progressing very well, it would just be good to have a coach that can take a look at my form once in awhile.  Also, someone who can give me an idea of competitions when I start competing.

Andy,

I would suggest trying to train at both clubs. How about using the closer club as your primary facility and visit the other club 1-4 days a month? Learn everything you can from both places. It might be best to stay unattached as well, though maybe not. You might decide after a while that the drive is worth it for you (though it sounds completely impractical as a primary site) because you like that club much better, or you might decide you have everything you need at the closer club. But, either way I think it makes sense to experience both.
