MUCH BETTER!

Way less swing, though still a slight bit.

Thanks Chris.

I don't know if this old dog can learn a new trick, but I am making progress.  I have studied this video for a few minutes to try and catch the differences in the reps to see why I jump forward.  I think my biggest problem is with my 1st pull.  I am inconsistent with my positioning especially at the transition with the 2nd pull.  I think I need to be more upright with the weight over the mid-foot and not the toes.  That is the only difference that I can spot between the 2 reps.

Any other feedback is appreciated.  I think the video analysis on this forum is the most educational thing here and I enjoy reading all the opinions.  Great stuff!  Keep it coming!

Paul, what software do you use to put the two seperate clips side-by-side?

Hey Paul,
I think you are right concerning your positioning toward the second pull. You seem to be having the same problem as I am... I tend to straighten my legs to much in the first pull, then I am too late erecting my torso and the bar flies away. Also, when your legs straighten to fast, and your shoulders stay over the barr as they should, your balance WILL be off (toward your toes). I'm curing this with working from the hang a lot. Hope it will work for you as well.

Good work, Keep it up!

Eamonn,

I use Sony's Vegas Movie Studio 6.0.  I bought it just over a year ago on EBay for about $80US.  It also came with a great DVD creating software.  It was a great investment.  It took me about 3 rendering steps to get it from raw video to the side-by-side view, but it was worth the time for me.

Hope this info helps.

Paul,

Did you stretch and distort the video in order to fill the entire screen with the side by side video?

Thanks

Chris,

I did it in 4 steps:

1.  After choosing the 2 reps that I wanted, I moved the video (in the event pan/crop feature) so that my body would be in the right half of the screen.  I did the same with the 2nd rep but moved it to the left half of the screen.

2.  I then overlayed a simple .bmp from MS Paint in the Video 2 track over both video tracks.  The .bmp was 720x480 (the size of a video frame) in size, half was blue and the other half was green.

3.  I then chromakeyed only the blue out of the overlay in track 2 which reveals my snatch attempt on the right side and half a green screen on the left side.  I did the same for the opposite side except I switched the blue screen/green screen so that the snatch attempt is on the left and the green screen is on the right.

4.  I then rendered the file and started a new file with the just rendered movie as the only import.  I then split the movie in 2 so that the 2 reps are seperate.  I moved the last rep from track 1 to overlay the 1st rep in track 2 and chromakeyed the green out of both video tracks and rendered.

This is much harder to write out than to do.  I hope this helps.  I have enjoyed your video editing and hope that this will help with future comparisons.  If you have any questions or need further clarifications, just ask, I will do my best.  I really enjoy video as much as weightlifting.
