Video: need advice please
« on: Jan 24, 2007, 08:45 AM »
Hi all,

For the life of me ,I can't figure out how to maintain a more upright bottom position. I always tend to have a foward lean. I know my techniue as a whole isn't good, but I'm trying to fix one thing at a time. I did manage to get to 110 with this foward lean, but I'm putting the heavy days away for now, in the hope it will better my technique. I'm not even sure what muscles to stretch for that. any ideas?

thanks much,

Bob

Hey, thanks much fellas. I'll really focus on staying over the bar more before I pull and keep my arms straight. I never knew that, all along I thought I was keeping them straight, lol I'm actually looking foward to working on this ,see what happens

I don't think your forward lean is that bad, but if you want to be more upright stretch your calves/ankles with bent knees.   If you do it right you will feel it in/around your acilles tendon.  If/when you gain range of motion in your ankles you will be able to sit more upright with less stress on your knees.

Bob,

In the catch position of all your snatchs i see your left foot is not flat on the ground.  As in squatting if your gastroc (calf) soleus (just deep of calf) complex is tight there is the tendency to lean forward because your heels are coming off the ground.  Same instance, your right heel doesn't stay flat, this is forcing you on your toes giving you that forward lean. Do more gastroc stretching and soleus stretches.  To stretch your soleus do a calf stretch but in a bent knee position.

It also looked like you may be lacking in shoulder flexibility. I would keep up with shoulder disslocates to work on this
