USA Weightlifter Josh Moreau Suspended for Cannabis
The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) announced today that Josh Moreau of Colorado Springs, Colo., an athlete in the sport of weightlifting, tested positive for a prohibited substance and accepted a suspension for his first doping offense.
Moreau, 25, tested positive for metabolites of cannabis or tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) at the American Open in Birmingham, Alabama on December 3, 2006. Cannabinoids are listed as “specified substances†and are prohibited under the USADA Protocol and the rules of the International Weightlifting Federation, both of which have adopted the World Anti-Doping Code and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List. Cannabinoids are listed as “specified substances†because they are less likely to be abused as doping agents.
Moreau accepted a three-month period of ineligibility. As part of his sanction, he agreed to participate in an anti-doping educational program. Because Moreau completed this program, he received a three-month period of deferment, allowing for an immediate return to competition.
As a result of the doping violation, Moreau has been disqualified from all competitive results achieved since December 3, 2006, including his first-place finish in the Men’s +105 Kilograms event at the American Open. USA Weightlifting, the national governing body for the sport in the United States, will carry out the sanction.
USADA is responsible for the testing and results management process for athletes in the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movement. USADA is equally dedicated to preserving the integrity of sport through research initiatives and educational programs.

always I have wondered this , if testing showed the recreational type of drugs , like pot , etc....
WHEN would the tests have detected pot ?
to the point of my question , would any testing in the late 60s & 70s have detected pot usage and if so were any sanctions applied.
or was it merely at first "speed" then leter steridod use that was the focus.

besides that fact that mary jane is illegal, is there a reason why it is against the dopeing policies or is it solemly to prevent drug use?
