I think I remember reading in a one book that when lifters focused too much on increasing deadlift performance their classical lift performance suffered. I will try to find that section and get the specifics and what not. I'm pretty sure it also listed top Front Squats and Deadlifts of various lifters.

I've done 305kg weighing 120kg.  I don't know many deadlift numbers from other Olympic Lifters because a lot of them don't even do the lift.  But I'm sure a lot of the top Europeans could do huge weights if they trained the lift for a little while.

Oh yeah, I forgot.  Mark Henry did an official 903 deadlift at a national powerlifting championship back around 1995 or 96.  I'm sure that's the best deadlift ever by an Olympic Lifter, unless you believe the Lock Ness Monster stories you hear about Russians doing 500kg for sets of ten to warm up for snatches:)

if u do heavy deadlifts it does help when doing the clean, makes the bar feel lighter off the ground since u already have good deadlift strength, but i guess heavy clean pulls would do the same to a certain degree as deadlifts. i do have some lower back problems so i dont deadlifts often, but there have been phases in which i deadlifted heavy and when i went back to doing cleans it didnt seem to make me slow.
