Cathal,
More great progress well done.
A couple of things to think about. Just with the snatches, the arms seem to pull/break too early. Just a touch. However this aspect has still improved a huge amount since lets say 6 months ago.
I think your second pull could have a little more zip. It could get a little more explosive, faster. Cleans from the blocks would be great for this but I know blocks arent available in the Arena... perhaps sean, you, andy etc could chip in to get a couple custom made. Or see if someone in the UL woodwork dept will do it! Otherwise, I'll chip in with you in May when I get back.
The last thing regards your set-up or start position. It seems to me that you could be "bigger" on the platform. Keep those knees out to open up the body, draw the shoulder blades together and chest up. (i'd be interested to hear if anyone agrees with me on this one).
No big problems here at all though, very small things really. None of these are criticisms, just my ideas. You are progressing really well, keep up the hard training and get good recovery. Dont forget to give yourself a reduced volume week (you can keep the intensity high) every 4 or 5 weeks or so.

ya i am stil bending the arms a bit too early in the snatch, im gona do a bit of work from hang over the next few weeks to try and remedy this seeing that we'v no blocks here! snatched 88 yesterday so was happy with that, il try post it in a few days. attempted 90 a few times also, got the height and locked out arms but the bar was a wee bit out in front so lost it! il take wat your saying bout making myself 'bigger' on platform on board n see if it feels better. cheers for feedback eamonn! let me know how your own trainin's goin n if the injury is clearing up!

Just remember that it might not feel better right away. You might need to work on your flexibility a bit, perhaps the adductors (longus and brevis) in particular. Ask one of the sport science students what they are!

Cathal,
we have the same problem in out gym (no blocks). Or to be more specific: the personel won't let us use them, cause they are for fitness, not weightlifting. What I have been doing lately is just stack up plates in order to elevate the starting position, just don't drop the bar back on the weights.
greets,
rex
