Actually, his front squat was in the 280-290 range. I don't however know the numbers on his back squat. Dursen Sevinc had a front squat of 300K and a back squat of 400k. Although I doubt that Dimas back squatted that much you can make a comparison and estimate his back squat in the 360-390K range. Although I'm sure someone on here knows for sure. On a side not, I'm much more amazed by a big snatch or clean and jerk then I am by a big squat, am I alone on this???

Buck,

I agree with you on the squat.  There are many people that can squat over 1,000 lbs.  But with wraps, belts, suits, questionable depth and a super wide stance, it just isn't pretty to watch.

But a snatch or a clean and jerk, no matter the form, is a thing of beauty.  In order to throw that weight overhead takes brute strength, unreal power, years of training, flexibility and athleticism.  Weightlifting is a beautiful sport.

Too bad that it is being ruined by the immoral use of steroids and other methods.

Hmm, a big snatch and clean and jerk...that seems reasonable.  That is our sport after all isn't it!  It is impressive to see and hear of the raw strength of lifters around the world fortunate enough to be able to train full time because weightlifting is their profession.  That being said, there isn't necessarily a direct correlation from a "huge" squat to a "huge" clean and jerk.  There are huge squatters and huge lifters.  There's something to be said about lifters such as Syzmon Kolecki and Taner Sagir that are able to put everything they've got into making huge lifts to achieve record lifts in competition.  I agree with you Buck, I am more impressed by the combination of raw strength, power, and technical precision needed to pull of a "heavy" snatch and clean and jerk by an olympic weightlifter.
