Cortisone in the shoulder
«
on:

Ive just had a cortisone injection in my right shoulder in attempt to relieve tendonitis caused by my slightly larger than normal acromion of scapula (Surgeon said he may have to shave it down if the problem re occurs).
Anyway i was wondering if anyone here has had a cortisone injection in the shoulder and could tell me how long it took thme to get back to lifting and how they went about easing back into it.
I was also hoping someone could give me tips on controlling the tendonitis when im training again.
Thanks

From my own experience I would highly recomend seeing a different surgeon. Go to an orthopedic surgeon, preferrably one specializing in sports medicine.
If you really have a problem with the acromion, it may not be tendonitis, you may be starting to tear the spinatus (part of the rotator cuff) I had what felt like tendonitis and then I "poked" a full tear through my spinatus. It was then that I learned I have an acromion shape that impinges the spinatus. The acromion was shaved down as part of the several repairs to that shoulder. Now my other shoulder is having problems and I'll get that acromion shaved down before causing another tear. From recent experience with the other shoulder, I would guess I already have a small tear.
