What is with Powerlifters?

I my defense:

I used my head. which is why I was able to remind him that general sweeping statements arent acceptable in any arena of discussion, because they create need for proof of statement, and thus more arguments.

As for my comment, it was honest, and said without intent to hurt. I do believe we should all do that, its good principle to think before you speak...isnt it? or at least...wasnt it?

Paul,

I thought your post was fine. Matt was slightly "out of line" perhaps, but, then, do we know what Matt went through today that led him to post that message? No, we do not.

it comes down to this:

give a powerlifter a year in o lifting and see how he does.

give an o lifter a year in powerlifting and see how he does.

the o lifter will be much more successful if he switches to powerlifting, while the powerlifter will have to train much longer to be successful at o lifting.

saying that, RAW powerlifting is still a great sport.
hard work+consistency

I think this whole train of thought gets started because Louie S. wrote that old article about what he'd do differently if he coached weightlifters.  So the powerlifters out on the forums who've read this article will sometimes question why weightlifters don't use Louie's methedology.

I've found most of the time these questions arise from lack of knowledge of our sport and when answered specifically, the questions tend to go away.  But I really don't know any power lifters who say they know better than we do on how to train for our sport.

And of course there are the elitists on both sides of the house...although I think elitism is more predominant in OL than in PL, based off the conversations on GoHeavy.

Why is it every single OL Lifter thinks Oly lifters know how to train for powerlifting better than PLers do?

Wait, I guess you dont like blanket statements that include errors made in assumption about you either do you...

Maybe next time you might try using your head before you put your tongue to work.

Yay! I have a fan. Well, powerlifting isn't my forte anyway so I stay away from it.

Calm down.

Hopefully a little turkey and a day off from work will calm us all down.

Happy Thanksgiving.
