:D Competition Day!
Had a great day today at the Morgantown Christmas Meet in Morgantown, PA! Kennedy's Gym (an affiliate of East Coast Gold) host a great, friendly meet. I weighed in at just over 88kg, Thanksgiving made me lose all desire to get to the 85kg class.
 Snatch
Opened with 82.5 kg, got it.
2nd attempt 87.5 kg, nailed it. A meet PR!
3rd attempt 90 kg, was under it but didn't punch the weight up and missed.
 Clean and Jerk
1st - 107.5 kg, missed the jerk. It was a bad attempt.
2nd - 107.5 kg, nailed it. Felt very good.
3rd - 110 kg, 2 out of 3 judges agree that its a good lift! A meet PR!
 Total - 197.5 kg. Previous highest total was 192.5 kg in July, 2005. I know I can still improve a little more.
I love weightlifting!

Thanks ACD and Jim!
Competing is a lot of fun. My kids love the trophy. I think they want one now, so in about 10 years look for some little LaDukes lifting weights. I can't wait until I get to enter a competition with my son and daughters!

I have 2 daughters, 9 and 3. I have a son who is 5. All of them are physically active and enjoy coming to the HS weightroom with me. Usually the play with the medicine balls or the AB Roller. Usually my son wants to lift the bar which he can do. It weighs 45# and he weighs only 38#. I spent some time teaching him to front squat the 25# bar a few weeks ago and he did pretty good for his age. For now, I just want them to enjoy being kids and being active, the love of sports will grow on its own.
Thanks for asking!
