Gary won them in 1970 and won them again in 2006 going six for six with a 97kg snatch and a 123kg clean and jerk weighing 113kgs!
These are all new national master's records and exceed the current world master records of 92.5kgs in the snatch and 120.5kgs in the clean and jerk for the 105+kg class!!!
Congratulations to our estemeed moderator, Gary Deal!!!!

Thank you Chris, being congratulated by a current national champion, and soon to be american record holder again after such a time lapse is very rewarding. Gary Deal

DANE,
THANK YOU, I am going to post what I am feel I am doing right, hopefully it will help other advanced master lifters, and to my chagrin I am a advanced master lifter, masters training is and should be different at all age levels, at mine 65 to 69, I have totaly ceased full movements of olympic lifts in training, and terminated my favorite exercise squats, in favor of leg presses, I know they are far less important then squats, but my knees thank me every day for this change as do my other joints now that I do just pulls, pulls and more pulls from floor and boxes, I am not constantly re habing something now, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS ROUTINE FOR YOUNGER MASTER LIFTERS, and I wish that I did not have to restrict my self to it, but as I hear our chairmen Mr Cohen and others I respect say over and over at your age its about training smart being Irish it took me a while to catch on, and you know what its kind of nice to go over to the college and do leg presses with 500 for 10 and 600 for singles and have the basketball players come up to you say, I am a nice person tell me mr what is the trick to be able to do that please tell me I want to show off for my girl friend when she gets here, this got kind of wordy, but then I am a moderator , train smart, Gary Deal
