1972 Olympics report by Bob Hoffman

from the Strength and Health magazine December 1972 , Bob Hoffman's report of the Munich Olympics with photo by George Kirkley.
The olympics I recall most as a fan and the last with the press. Many greats from the previous decade and rising stars.
Frank Rothwell from Ireland (who lifted in the 198lb class there) asked me to post this great article. Imagine picking up this mag at the corner drugstore or any magazine rack, in this respect S&H was awesome.
I read and reread this mag as a teenager (and adult) so forgive any tatters and some photos spanned 2 pages and I cut some as I scanned full pages.
I'll begin with the photo spread and continue with the rest of the article.

The complete results , (click to enlarge ...)
I used this back in 72 as my personal "kilo conversion chart" as it had each poundage in pounds and kilos ... in most combinations.
I literally wore this book out , it came apart when I scanned it in for this.

A 3 page spread was included to cover the Americans , as only Grippaldi and Holbrook placed within the top 5 and were shown in the regular report.

This was actually from a Joe Weider mag MUSCLE BUILDER in 1973 with coverage of the Munich olympics.
No kidding folks , for a minute or two there in 72-73 Joe's mag had "some WL articles" right beside Arnold's biceps..
I think it was a report by Oscar state.
here are pics of the 1st 3 lifters in each class.
