He was born in 1989.  He lifts in the 94KG class. The weight on the bar was 308. I posted the whole story on another site if you are interested here is the link:

http://goheavy.com/forums/olympic/index.cgi/noframes/read/53886

By the way he had to throw the weight back as his left foot slipped in the matting. If you get a chance to watch the tape again watch his foot slip and the matting comes up.

When it is in regular speed it is not as obvious and I imagine the coaches who wrote the reports did not see the foot slip. The USAW never gave the 16 year old lifter my son a chance to present his side of the story or to view the video. But evidently not to many people are interested or care if a 16 year old minor gets his right of due process.

Sorry for a such a lengthy reply, I read your post and could tell you seemed like a pretty fair guy who asked some good inteligent questions.

No worries, thats fair enough. He seems like a great lifter already. As I said, I can't speak from experience on this, but I noticed the foot slip watching the video at regular speed. I got the impression it could have been more dangerous if he had dropped the weight on the black tiling/matting instead of getting the weight under control. A hearing should have been held to hear the lifters point of view. I'll go read the goheavy article though.
