Chris, don't know enough about the incident to give an informed opinion. The tape shows what it shows however, I can't say what young Mr. Moser's intent was. I'd have to ask and see how he responds. To me, before-during and after are most important. What was the young man's attitude??? Sorry-can't give an opinion. But I can say that his father's comments on GOHEAVY were classic/typical/childish ****. Get a grip for gods sake. Soldier on-set some records and learn some humility.

tough to call......what did he say? why did he throw the weight? because the judges were telling him they already turned down the lift? the save was amazing....if I had gone through all that trouble and in the middle of me trying to bring it back to the platform the judges turned down the lift, I would have been pretty pissed also........with sport comes passion.

I think a warning would have been more appropriate considering the kid's only 16 and no real harm was done. Just showed his attitude on stage and embarrassed the coaches. That's my take on it anyway.

I think for the simple fact that he was arrogant enough to walk off the platform and almost off the stage with the weight overhead, without dropping it behind or something right after he stepped off the platform, warrants judiciary action. I think that that USAW made an intelligent decision in reprimanding a young lifter with a head so large he almost falls over while standing up. Figuratively speaking.
Grow up James. Its a sport, youre an athlete. Play the game by the rules or shut up and go home.

I think I do not know enough about the incident... At first, it did not seem like he tried to walk up to the edge, but after looking more carefully, it looks like that was his intent. If indeed that was his intent, then I think the ban was justified, in fact, perhaps even more harsh punishment. The potential to make a mistake was too great... What if he walked off the platform? He would have broken legs most likely and what of the weight? He should have sent that flying to an audience and injured someone. The way he threw the weight also was unjustified.
But, I really wasn't there, so I cannot really comment. If his intent wasn't to walk up there, then I would say no punishment was required. I guess it all depends on the reasons he did it and if he planned this ahead of time.
Looks like a really good lifter, have to keep my eyes on him in the future.

Just a question, how much was that, what year was he born and what weight class is he in?
I can't speak from experience or a rulebook, but if he had not thrown the weight backwards I don't think I would have suspended him.
