Pubic bone - Snatch
«

I've just started out lifting olympic style and it's a lot of fun, but, there's one problem. When I snatch, I tend to bump the bar straight off my pubic bone and it certainly isn't comfortable. Is this something all people experience? Will the pain subside as I continue training?
I'm currently using a collar to collar grip so I can't see much happening there.
Thanks in advance.

Georg,
This is a common (and rather painful) problem in my gym. Try to hold your shoulders over the bar longer when you pull off the floor, and focus on pushing your knees back and staying on your heels. That ought to put the bar in a less painful and more efficient position.

Try bringing your grip in a bit so that the bar isn't quite so high when you explode. If you bang the bar with your pubic bone, and I do this at times too, it means that the bar has gotten away from your body. Even with light weight focus on dragging the bar up your thighs, keeping contact at all times, and then driving it with your hips as you extend to finish your pull. Look at clips of Solymanoglu and you can see him dragging the weight up his thighs just before he explodes with his hips and then dives underneath.
