The Disqualification Threat

The Weightlifting Federation of Russia has suffered another loss. Yevgeny Pisarev, the 17-year super-weightlifter from Nevinnomyssk, has been disqualified for doping following Dmitry Berestov, the Olympic champion in the weight category of up to 105kg.

Both drug tests that the World Anti-Doping Agency took from Russia’s junior Yevgeny Pisarev showed chlortalidon, which apart from being diuretic is used to camouflage anabolic agents, news media reported. The result will keep the weightlifter out of competitions for two years.

Moreover, the sources say the A-test of another weightlifter was positive and the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has notified the Weightlifting Federation of Russia about it. The positive result of B-test will disqualify the third Russian this year. Under the IWF regulations, it will lead to disqualification of the national Federation and to a fine of at least $30,000. Should it happen, Russia’s weightlifters won’t compete at the qualification tournaments held in 2007 and 2008 before the Olympic Games.

“Another shot, and the end to all of us,” said a titled weightlifter on condition of anonymity, “two years of disqualification, and the Russian weight won’t go up for many years. It will never go up, perhaps.”

Makes Dmitry KLOKOV'S statements at the end of the 2005 Worlds even
more foolish. I don't want to be one to say I told you so, but. . . . . .

I can't pull the quote, but he was complaining about the oil rich countries
being able to afford sophisticated drugs that allowed them to compete on an elite level, while the Russians relied on superior training programs and genetics. It was not his best moment. Of course I was reading a translation in a newspaper so his exact words and meaning may have been distorted.

Matt,
How's your guitar playing, ever heard of Harvey Mandel? He was doing Fussion before the word existed. I should send you a copy of "The Snake"

Yeah, I've heard of him, but not so much of his music though. Yeah, I've been playing for 9 years. Ha I wish I was as good at o-lifting as I am at guitar.

I really like Frank Zappa. He has some really good jazz fusion stuff on the albums Hot Rats and Grand Wazoo.

If you go to youtube.com and type in the search box King Kong 1968 and click I think the first link you'll get Zappa's song. You'll probably be humming the bass line after you get through with the song.

Here is a picture of one of the busted Russians, Dmitry Berestov- Olympic Champion and official cheater. Here is what he said in World Weightlifting (2004/4):

"Here I am leaving non, but don't worry, I'll be back for more!"

See ya!

without any flames,
USA is the largest user of Steroids in the world, and not for few units.

For european people is quite unbelivable that in major us sport steroids are quite for free (nfl, nba ecc.)

just take a look for the bodycomp of guys allaround, usa guys are normally 30-40 muscle lbs heavyer than european (trained guys). in my country i know (perhaps) 3 guy using steroids, and not well, and i've worked in gym for some years, i'm competing in pl ecc. Could you say the same??
I meet many american's on vacation and the first things i noticed (not only me) is the high rate of pumped guys.

In pl USA built up federetion without any doping control, pro-hormon are (ore were??) free (!!!!!!!!!!), you have the higher level of sport medicine in the world, and again and again i have to hear from some iper-bicept-pumped 330lbs lifter that he loose at IPF worlds (heavily loose) because Bondarenko dope. (try to stop bodybuilding dont u think???) Not to speak of weightlifting.

OK, it's a child game (sorry my english), if there is a place where it could be possible to use perfect steroids, usa is one of that.

Dont want to flame at all, and my poor english could make me say things i dont want to

thanks

Not a flame at all. You make a point, and you are entitled to your opinion.

Thanks for your contribution.
