Centennial High Graduate Kiyo Fujimoto Selected For World Weightlifting University Champtionships Team

Centennial High graduate Kiyo Fujimoto was selected to the USA Weightlifting World University Championship Team after her performance at the USAW National Collegiate Championships.

The event ended Saturday in Merillville, Ind.

Fujimoto, 21, competing in the 137-pound class for Bergen College of Paramus N.J., snatched 165 pounds, and clean and jerked 212 pounds for a 377-pound total.

She earned a gold medal in the clean and jerk, a silver in the total and a bronze in the snatch.

The World University Championships are June 30 through July 2 in Turkey. It will be the third time Fujimoto has represented the United States in international competition. She competed at the 2003 Junior Pan-American Championships and the 2004 Junior World Championships.
