No clue where you could buy them. I have heard they are expensive though.

Mark,

In the U.S. we don't have too many places to purchase weightlifting shoes from. Here are a few places I've found:

www.weightliftingshoes.ca
www.dynamic-eleiko.com
www.usaweightlifting.org (go to the e-store)
www.vsathletics.com
www.ebay.com (do a search)

I didn't even know Asics made a weightlifting shoe. Live and learn.

Cheers,
Terry

PS : Why didn't you just ask your buddy where he got his?

I have been searching all over for asics weightlifting shoes.

They can be found nowhere!

Yet i consistetly see athletes wearing them!

What are they like? Are they any good?

I notice they have no tarsel strap, with only laces, and have a split sole, very much like a dress shoe. Anyopne tried them?

WHERE CAN YOU GET THEM ONLINE?!?!

Are they made to measure by asics or something?

They are AWESOME!!

Most commonly seen on the feet of Greeks, Koreans (esp. NORKs), Taiwan Chinese, and of course the Japanese.

If you go to the Japanese site for Asics, you'll find them there, and the price is prohibitive (not just in thousands of yen, but also in the conversion to dollars).  I have no idea what the shipping/taxes/etc. run to.

The ones I have personal experience w/ were a gift from a former member of the Taiwan O-lift squad.

Even Nike's flubbed attempt to market their great new product has shown that there is a hunger for shoes that some suit at Asics is failing to see.
I agree w/ Mark Davis --
